Next up ‘On the Road’ for the Heed is a 168-mile round trip to the LNER Community Stadium, where we face York City in the Enterprise National League on Tuesday evening.

York sit just inside the play-offs in 7^th place on 27 points from 15 games. The Minstermen are unbeaten in four league games, having played out a 1-1 draw with FC Halifax Town at The Shay in their most recent league outing, with Ollie Pearce securing a point five minutes from time.

We’ve Met Before

In the most recent meeting between the two sides, York claimed all three points at the International Stadium with a 3-1 victory in April. Luke Hannant opened the scoring for the Heed in the 11^th minute with a follow-up effort after Jovan Malcolm struck the woodwork. York levelled in the 36^th minute through Ashley Nathaniel-George before second half goals from Junior Luamba and Malachi Fagan-Walcott sealed the victory for The Minstermen.

Travel & Ticketing Information

The LNER Community Stadium is located out of the city, and is part of the Monks Cross leisure complex.

If you’re heading down by rail, you can catch any LNER, CrossCountry or TransPennine Express service from Newcastle to York, with a journey time of around 1 hour. From York Railway Station, you can catch First York Park and Ride service 9, which operates every 12 minutes from York City Centre to the stadium. For your return journey, the final bus scheduled is 10pm leaving Monks Cross Park and Ride. The Y22 service from Stonebow, operated by York Pullman, runs from two hours before kick-off and after the game until the ground is clear, up to 90 minutes after the full-time whistle.

If you’re travelling by car, from the North, leave the A1(M) at Junction 47 for A57 (York) and follow until Poppleton Bar Park & Ride, take the 1^st exit on the roundabout onto A1237 (Stadium), and follow until Monks Cross Park & Ride, where the stadium is located.

A dedicated area within the Monks Cross P&R site has 400 spaces for match day users. Tickets need to be purchased in advance from the club’s ticketing website. A steward then scans your ticket in the car park. The Vangarde Shopping Park, does offer parking for up to six hours with a minimum spend of £5 in one of their stores or restaurants.
