Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the loan signing of Oxford United defender Aidan Elliott-Wheeler.
The wing-back joins The Heed from the EFL Championship side on temporary terms until January 4, 2026, having spent the 2024/25 season on loan in the Enterprise National League North and South with Oxford City and Salisbury, racking up a combined 27 league appearances.
Captain of Oxford United’s under-21 side, Elliott-Wheeler made his senior debut for The U’s in September 2023 at the age of 17 and has also spent time on loan with Banbury United and Hemel Hempstead Town in recent seasons.
“I want to prove to myself and to other people that I’m not a step two player,” said Elliott-Wheeler.
“I want to come here and prove to the gaffer, and to anyone that’s had doubts, that I can play this level and stand out as well.
“I want to be a bit of a leader at the back – I don’t want [the lads] to see myself as a young lad who is quiet, and I think I’ll be able to show that in the coming weeks.”
